Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Rossville, Georgia: A Wish Came True

Abby Greenhill
The Extreme Makeover Home Edition Team has been in Rossville , Georgia all week. They are building a home for a deserving family. At this point the home is just about finished and the team is getting ready to turn it over to the family on Saturday. There is also another little boy who is very excited about this particular makeover.

Alex Schneider, a 7-year-old from Canada, has a favorite show and a favorite host. The favorite show is "Extreme Makeover Home Edition" and his favorite host is Ty Pennington. Alex lives in a wheelchair due to the fact that since infancy he has suffered from a rare and often deadly disorder that causes sialic acid to build up in his blood stream. This disease cripples his brain functions, and it has no cure.

His mother stays at home to take care of Alex. He has had a feeding tube for over three years. In order to feed Alex it is important that he remains still and to keep Alex still he watches Extreme Makeover. If his sister tries to change the channel, he makes an attempt to fight her for the remote control.

Since the show isn't on every day, the family tapes the episodes and plays them over and over for Alex. Alex was given his pick for a wish through the Make A Wish Foundation. You can guess what his wish was - to attend an episode of Extreme Makeover. Alex suffered a severe seizure in January and his name was bumped to the top of the wish list.

Alex and his mom, dad and sister arrived at the work site in Rossville , Georgia on Thursday Alex had on his tool belt. The first person to approach Alex was rapper Xzibit, who has been at the build site all week in his new role as rapper/designer.

The next step was to get some hard hats for the family. As an extra special treat they were able to put on hard hats and go into the new home for a peek. And even better than that, Alex was going to meet Ty.

The Extreme Makeover Home Edition in Rossville , Georgia is giving hope to the young boy who will be living there. Hope that he will have a better life in the home that the design team made to fit his physical needs. The Extreme Makeover, Rossville , Georgia has also had a large impact Alex, another special little boy whose wish has come true.
