Home makeover shows are also very popular. Kitchens get new appliances, bathrooms are added and rooms are brightened by new paint jobs. But is that enough to turn a house into a home?
Time and again, many people often settle on the quick fixes for their lives. They suffer from deep scars that make-up can not cover, designer clothes can not hide and sex can not repair. These scars are usually shameful secrets that we carry with us from an early age. As you allow the shadows of your past to control our present, you become caught up in a false sense of self worth.
When you simply apply a Band-Aid over your emotional scars, you block out your feelings and pain. You become a big girl who simply plays dress up. The husband, 2 cars in the driveway, the dog and the 3 children do not take away your feelings of loneliness. Spiritually numb, your daily routines have become mundane.
Although the painful secrets of your past may be filled with guilt, shame and tragedy, you still have the strength to be the woman that God intended you to be.
There is no way to change your past. So no matter how many emotional and material Band-Aids you put on it, your past will always be a part of you. With an extreme spiritual makeover, you and only you can control what power the past has over your current life. In other words, proclaim the last rites over your past and hand it over to God. It all boils down to you being a survivor. Keep in mind, somewhere out there in the world a young lady has not been able to overcome a similar situation you have lived through. When you draw strength from your past, you are able to witness to others what you have been through.
Do not allow your past to rob you of your essence, from whom you are meant to be. After an extreme spiritual makeover, that designer dress and those Prada shoes will simply compliment your inner beauty. Your makeup with enhance the natural glow of God you have inside you. And your house will become the loving home you longed for as a child.
So my fellow sisters, continue on with grace, strength and love of self.
