Eye of the Beholder by Marilyn Lee - Book Review

Denise
David is a widower, his late wife killed by a drunk driver. He has a little girl. He is a Christian who doesn't understand why God, after praying took his wife away from him. So he loses his interest in going to church. His mother and daughter Carolyn are trying to get him to start dating again. They want him to date a pretty, but full-figured black woman, who is a teacher at the daycare center his daughter goes to. Diana is happy, bright and positive, but their first meeting with each other is anything but. Diana is very determined to help him, and in the process capture his heart with steadfast faith.

This is the only interracial Christian romance ebook I've read. If there are any more, I have yet to find them. I really liked this story, but it could have been better. The hero in the story, David acts like he doesn't even like Diana in the beginning. It seems like he doesn't because she's black and full-figured. The truth is that he just can't get past the point of losing his wife. He feels as if, loving someone else is wrong. Her faith is strong, and she encourages him, but he starts to sway her in his direction.

After awhile he can't stop thinking about her, and wants to be around her as much as possible, and because she wants to be loved so badly, she accepts the proposal he finally gives her. She accepts without him telling her that he actually loved her. They enjoyed being together, and the physical attraction was there but that just isn't enough. She then realizes her mistake. Both the hero and the heroine in this story have a best friend to turn to. Diana's tells her she should keep it real. Not to get deeply involved with a man that does not share her depth of faith. His friend tells him to be real, too. His wife is gone, Carolyn needs a mother and there's nothing wrong with dating, or falling in love again. It's very interesting. Maybe a tiny negative part of the story, was his daughter Caroline and his mother matchmaking. David knew he needed a wife, but told himself he wasn't ready. So, his daughter, especially, and his mother pushed a bit too much, I thought. The turning point of the story is good. Just wish the author included the wedding in the end. An interracial Christian romance ebook that is worth reading.
