Eyebrow Tweezing for Beginners

Brooke
As far as facial features go, eyebrows are very important. Some people naturally have perfectly shaped eyebrows. Others like me for example take matters into our own hands, and pluck. One of the greatest fears in plucking your eyebrows is the pain, which I'm glad to tell you, is not bad it all. In fact, in some ways for me it seems to relieve stress. It's as if each hair plucked releases tension, or anger built up inside. Of course people are also afraid of messing up.

There are ways though to avoid and fix mistakes. For starters, make sure your tweezers are very thin, that way you can slide them under each hair effortlessly. It's also a great help to have a small hand held mirror with magnification x5 or higher. They help you spot each tiny hair with ease. You can usually find those in stores like Wal-Mart or Target for around $5-10. As for the shape, it's all up to you.

In advance to actually shaping the brow though, you have to prepare by plucking stray hairs from in between and far below them. For long slender eyebrows, it is most advisable to start from the bottom and pluck horizontally before vertical so that you don't pluck too many out in the first go. To get "surprised eyebrows" start plucking from the middle, then work your way down on each side; plucking the most in the middle. Every now and then you should take a look in a larger mirror to view the overall effect.

Another way to figure out which hairs to pluck to get the shape you want is strange, but some what efficient. Cut out the shape of eyebrow you want from a piece of paper and tape it onto your eyebrow. It is important to match the top of the model to the top of your eyebrow so that you do not need to pluck any from the top. Also make sure to tape them on from the top otherwise there could be tape in the way of an area needed to be plucked. Any mistakes made can easily be fixed by eyebrow pencil. Gently brush the pencil along and or around the eyebrow to make it look thicker/longer. Doing so would only be temporary though; just until new hairs grow back. They tend to grow back within 1 week or so depending on the person as well as how many times you have plucked them before.

I grew up in South Carolina and moved down to Florida when I was 21, then at 31 I moved back. I love uncompetitive volleyball.. (you know like on the beach or in the pool or something).  View profile
