Eyelash Enhancers- A Mix of Reviews

Bob Sagette
In today's age, there is a lotion and potion for just about every beauty qualm. One beauty fix-it that has been very popular for the last two years is lash enhancers. Who can resist the allure of a product that claims to lengthen, darken, and thicken your natural eyelashes? I know I can't. Many products and dollars later, I am able to give you a frank and honest review of some of the more popular eye lash enhancer products.

But before we begin the review, I think it is very important to give you a warning that I never got before I began my quest for longer, thicker lashes. Some eyelash growth enhancer products contain prescription drugs called prostaglandins, hormone like substances used to treat glaucoma. This lowers pressure in the eye which results in lashes that grow longer and fuller.

While this may sound pretty great, the ingredients are not FDA approved for cosmetic use. When used on healthy eyes, these ingredients could possibly cause retinal detachment, which in turn could lead to vision loss. Some people have also reported getting dark spots on the eye as well. If this seems like too much of a risk (which you would be quite reasonable to think so) you might want to speak to your dermatologist about Latisse, which is FDA approved.

Peter Thomas Roth Lashes To Die For Night Time Eyelash Conditioning Treatment $125
This eyelash enhancer is one of the more popular ones, but in my opinion it is a MAJOR waste of money. You apply it like liquid eyeliner before bed. It does not work and it is a waste of time. I noticed that Sephora stopped stocking it online. I wonder why...

Tarte MultiplEYE Lash Enhancer $65
This eyelash enhancer has Sephora's natural seal and touts that the formula is free of parabens, sulfates, GMOs, Triclosan, Phthalates, or petrochemicals. That is nice and all but it stings! Once again, you apply this like a liquid eyeliner and because it is a liquid, it inevitably runs into your eyes, and boy does it sting! I did not notice a difference in my eye lashes, but then again I used it infrequently due to the stinging. The key to results is consistency and many people swear by this lash enhancer.

Talika Eyelash Lipocils $40
The least expensive and in my opinion, the most effective. It applies using a mascara wand. This does not sting your eyes and is made with lecithin and 100% natural plant extracts. I did notice a notice improvement in length and a bit more lash density. Best part, it doesn't sting.
