Eyelash Extensions

Fuller and Longer Eyelashes for Up to Two Months

Bobbi Leder
Do you long for thick, full lashes but were born with short, straight lashes instead? Well instead of having to apply layer upon layer of mascara each and every day, why not consider getting eyelash extensions? Eyelash extensions look and feel like real eyelashes and they won't irritate your eyes - even if you wear contact lenses. Now, I know the thought of having someone adhere false lashes to your delicate eye area with adhesive is pretty scary, but if you go to a trained, experienced and licensed technician you'll know you can relax, close your eyes and let the miracle of long, thick lashes begin.

We're not talking about the false eyelashes you can buy over-the-counter in your neighborhood drug store and apply in one long strip; no, these are long lasting individual lashes that you can wear without having to remove them for up to two months. Just like your natural eyelashes, the eyelash extensions will fall out in true fashion - individually - and because they are applied one at a time, they'll appear more natural. Properly applied lashes should last the length of the natural growth cycle of each eyelash hair.

Of course you can apply water soluble (not waterproof) mascara if you want to make your lashes look more dramatic but if your eyelash extensions are applied well, you won't have to. *Tip: If you do opt to apply mascara on your eyelash extension, go for one that is made specifically for false lashes. One to try is Kiss Me Mascara by Blinc.

Even though eyelash extensions don't require any maintenance, they do require you to treat them with care. That means no rubbing, scrubbing or pulling on your eyelid area; and use creams, lotions, and eye make-up removers carefully avoiding the eyelash line. There are different brands of eyelash extensions and adhesives but one to look for is NovaLash which is the only eyelash extension on the market that is physician formulated and made in America.

A full set of eyelash extensions will run anywhere from $100-$350 depending on the fullness you're after, the salon, city, and expertise of the technician. They're probably not something you want to get on a regular basis for that price, but wouldn't it be great to be eyelash curler and mascara free for up to six weeks? Ah, the things we women go through for beauty.

Tip: Ask to see the list of ingredients on the eyelash adhesive, and make sure it is FDA approved for cosmetic purposes.
