Eyeliner Pencils: Brand Makes a Difference

Choices

When comparing eyeliner pencils it's easy to go with the wrong brand. I've looked at several over the counter brands. Some include bargain buys from local drugstores like Wet n Wild, Cover Girl and Revlon.

After comparing these brands over the years, department store brands - hands down are worth the extra 5-10 bucks.

Just because it's a department store brand, doesn't mean you have to overspend on quality product.

While Chanel and Lancome, among many others, sell their eyeliner pencils for 20 - 30 dollars, department stores like Sephora offer great prices on their entire store line of cosmetics.

A little online research goes a long way when price comparing.

Usability

Eyeliner pencils vary in usability.

When testing a Wet 'n Wild stick of black eyeliner across the eyelid - one layer isn't enough to appear black. It appears light grey. The pencil is hard and doesn't smudge easily.

Experts say hard pencils disturb delicate tissue in the eyes.

This is not a good purchase. While it's a super bargain buy, it's not quality product. It can hurt your eyes and doesn't even work.

Choosing wisely

For just a few dollars more you can get Sephora's Slim Pencil eyeliner. It smudges beautifully across the eyelid after just one stroke.

It's pencil is soft, leaving the right amount of color without pressing on the eye or clumping.

The best part of all is that this eyeliner pencil is the most cost effective department store brand that I found on the market, retailing for an unbeatable 3 dollars.

Use your beauty bucks wisely.
