Eyes of Glass

Buddy Reed
I gaze through this window, and storms I do see,
I sit on this door step, and dream where I could be.
My mind be a wreck from hurricane thought.
I avoided her trap but still I was caught.

Bound to a post, I'm filled with fears.
Emotionally past the point of shedding tears.
Sadistically threatening to end my life,
Against my neck, I feel the cold steel of your knife.

Lash after lash, my back now bleeds.
Is this punishment for bad deeds?
This life of hate and malcontent.
A lose of love I could not prevent.

Racked by the pains that time once held.
Losing all hope of emotional meld.
Cold and alone, I lie in my blood.
These tears are a reflex, but they pour like a flood.

Darkness surrounds me, no tunnel of light.
No halo or wings for me to take flight.
No fire, No Brimstone. For I can not fall.
Death for a man with no soul at all.
