I am a picky customer when it comes to eyeglasses. I read all the time, I use the computer all the time, I drive a lot, I love spending time outside, and I do multimedia editing and videography. In general I put a bit more strain on my eyes than most people, so I was delighted to discover Eyewear Plus, in Williamsburg, Virginia, located off Ironbound Road between Richmond Road and Newtown (map). I've gotten to know the staff there quite a bit, and they are always cheerful and very concerned with helping their customers.

I first went to Eyewear Plus around last Christmas. During the fall semester at College, I had noticed my eyes getting gradually worse, and my regular eye doctor had retired that summer. In the few short weeks of Winter Break, Dr. Sutherland was able to get all the problems with my vision diagnosed and get me the glasses I needed to successfully finish school before the first day of class. The doctor really took the time to find out what activities of mine were giving me difficulty, and what I would need to be doing, and then he and his staff worked hard to get me my glasses. As I mentioned above, I'm something of a picky customer when it comes to eyeglasses, and I ended up returning the first pair, exchanging my bifocals for Progressive Lenses. The office charged me only for the difference in between the new and old lenses, and still got me my glasses in plenty of time for class.

Attached to the optometrist's office is the eyeglasses shop. Here, the friendly staff are happy to help customers select frames and answer any questions they may have about their glasses, or the care and maintenance thereof. I was very impressed with the staff's willingness to help me with my particular needs. When I was having a little difficulty finding exactly the right frames for me, the woman who works there offered to pull a few selections out of the next shipment for me to look at, and the shop even stayed open a little late one night to accommodate my hectic work schedule.

Dr. Sutherland himself is a very kind man, who diligently works to make sure each and every customer is satisfied with their glasses. Despite the fact that I have only had a couple of appointments with the man himself, he always remembers me and asks how I am. It is really refreshing to find this kind of quality, local service.
