Ezekiel Bread: Product Review

Pat Anthony
Ezekiel 4:9 bread is a product that will be appreciated by those who really enjoy bread. There are many products on the market that claim to be a better product than the breads we typically purchase. However, Ezekiel 4:9 bread is really different than other breads.

Ezekiel 4:9 does not contain flour. If you make bread at home this may be one recipe you won't be able to copy well, although some home bakers have tried.

Because Ezekiel 4:9 bread is made of sprouted grains and contains no flour, the product may seem a little chewy to some. For those who enjoy what is sometimes called rustic bread, Ezekiel will be a great choice.

Although we make most of our own bread for many reasons, Ezekiel bread is still a product we purchase on a fairly regular basis. The product is unbleached, and all ingredients are natural.

Ezekiel bread contains the following ingredients: Organic sprouted wheat, filtered water, organic sprouted barley, organic sprouted millet, organic malted barley, organic sprouted lentils, organic sprouted soybeans, organic sprouted spelt, fresh yeast, organic wheat gluten, and sea salt.

One slice of Ezekiel bread contains only 80 calories, 0.5 grams of fat, 75 mg. of sodium, and 15 grams of carbohydrates. Each slice has 3 grams of fiber and 4 grams of protein, and is made without sugar, and contains no cholesterol, Trans fat or saturated fat.

A product such as Ezekiel bread that contains 0% sugar might be a good alternative for anyone with special dietary needs.

The Glycemic index for Ezekiel bread is just 36. Foods that are at 55 or below are considered to be a low glycemic item. This is especially important for many who are dieting or who have blood-sugar concerns.

One loaf of this bread contains 20 slices. The cost for the bread will range from $3.00 to $5.69. When purchased in a grocery store it is usually in the freezer section of the store. We found the bread to be less expensive in health food stores that will give a case discount, which is 6 loaves of bread. Easy to freeze, it is worth buying more so you will have it on hand.

We feel Ezekiel bread is a quality product well worth the price. Ezekiel 4:9 bread offers more value nutritionally than most breads you will find on a grocery store shelf.

Made with certified organic grains the product is certified by Quality Assurance International.
