Ezekiel Prophecy and the Russian Invasion

If we read our bible at Ezekiel 38 - 39, we will find Gog-Magog Prophecy. This chapter tells of a future invasion of Israel by a vast coalition of nations that surround it. This invasion refers to a great world war centered on the Holy Land.

According to Genesis 10:2, Magog was one of the sons of Japheth. Most experts, such as Herodotus and Flavius Josephus identify Magog as being associated with the ancient peoples known as the Scythians. The name Scythian covers a number of nomadic tribes from the Russian steppes. Herodotus describes that Scythian lived at an area encompassed the lower reaches of the Dniester, Bug, Dnieper, and Don Rivers where they flow into the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. Thats why, according to one modern theory of dispensationalist Biblical hermeneutics, Magog are supposed to represent Russia. And who then is Gog? Gog is the leader of Magog, Prince of of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal. So Gog is the leader of this Russian led military horde.

Then, who are the allies of Magog?

1. Persia. Today, Persia is Iran. Iran, formerly known internationally as Persia until 1935. Now, Iran is the present major exporter of "Islamic Fundamentalism".
2. Cush, According to the Genesis, was the eldest son of Ham. Today, Cush's descendants are peoples in the Horn of Africa, such as Ethiopian, Sudanese, Somalian, etc.
3. Put. Put is associated with North Africa, populated by the Berbers. Put's descendants lived at an area encompassed present day Libya to Mauritania. So we have Libya, Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco. Libya is another sponsor of terrorism.
4. Gomer and Togarmah, Three sons of Gomer are mentioned in Genesis 10, namely Ashkenaz, Riphath and Togarmah (They are Noah's Grandson). The Armenians still refer to themselves as "The House of Togarmah" even to this day. Then, According to legend, the ancestor of the Georgian people was Kartlos, the great grandson of the Biblical Japheth. However, both Armenian and Georgian traditionally identify themselves as descendants of Ashkenaz. So, Gomer and Togarmah is associated with caucasian people.

Today, as confrontation between the United States and the European Union on one side and Iran on the other escalates, Tehran is finding itself further pushed into an alliance with Beijing and Moscow. Russia is helping Iran to build a nuclear power plant. Politically, Russian - Iran relation can balance Russian relations with the West. While Iran is also one of the countries that can serve as a market for Russian industry.

Iran threatens to destroy the Jewish State, Russia will ally itself with Iran, to oppose Israel in the last days. Then, on August 2008, Russia has invaded Georgia. Russia needs to have control of Georgia. As we know, effectively controlling Georgia would be key when Moscow one day begins moving Russian military forces against Israel. Georgia is in the way of flow of troops and supply movement to the Middle East. However, the war in Georgia fulfill Bible Prophecy.
