EzineArticles is Not an Article Mill

Lisa Mason
There is a lot of confusion among many online writers about article marketing and top article marketing sites like EzineArticles. Some writers think they are a rip-off for asking you to write for free and others think they are some type of content mill. Due to the misconceptions and misinformation, many writers are missing out on the great opportunities that they could get from these sites. While that means more profit for me, I'm in the business of helping writers and therefore, I'd like to point out that EzineArticles is not an "article mill".

The term "article mill" usually refers to sites that purchase large quantities of articles and content at lowball prices and then resell and sometimes repackage these for use such as PRL packs. This is in simple terms, the enemy of the online writer. They are our competition. These sites are designed for people who want to go the cheap and sloppy route and get low quality, mass quantity articles that many other people online may already be using. This is opposed to the much better alternative of having a professional writer create unique content for them.

Article marketing is not a market for writers to sell their writing but instead a method of advertising what services you have to offer, using the internet. It is predicted that by the year 2011, online marketing will be a $20Billion industry. You could be a part of it without spending a dime.

EzineArticles is an article marketing platform which can actually be of great benefit to an online writer. You retain 100% rights to your work and can use it elsewhere how you choose. No one is allowed to use your article without your byline and your author bio box with all links in tact or it is a violation of the terms of use for Publishers with EzineArticles.

I can credit thousands of dollars of earnings per year to EzineArticles as well as higher placement of my websites in search rankings (top 3 for all of my keywords). I get flooded with emails daily of people who want me to write for them. All I have to do is wake up and turn on my computer and the projects literally fall into my lap. There are so many offers for work that I can pick and choose the ones I want to take and the ones I want to pass on. I owe much of this publicity to solid article marketing.

I can see how it can be confusing to people who have not used this site or its services but I assure you it's the best free online marketing tool you will EVER find and is not anywhere in the same league as content mills.

Another benefit would be the clout. If a client wants to hire me to write articles for them to submit to EzineArticles and I show that I am featured with over 1500 articles and an active part of the community, they know I know my stuff and they hire me (and are willing to pay more for my experience).

Articles for backlinks, mainly. I use them to sell my books and refer to my website to sell my services as a writer. But I also have a neat little "free articles" package on my website that links to all of my EzineArticles by category and ppl have said they love that. When clients ask for samples, I refer them there.

Interesting. When doing ghostwriting for online articles, I spot many winding up sooner or later at Ezine under my cleints' names. Um, how does Ezine work for the freelance writer? It is just sticking up articles to make backlinks? Or does Ezine sell your aritcles?
