A few years ago, the MTA announced it was going ahead with a four-year project named the Culver Viaduct Rehabiliation which will renew tracks, signals and switches along a major subway tunnel. Starting at 5:00 am on Monday, January 17th, no Jamaica-bound F trains will be stopping at the Smith & 9th Street stop. The MTA advises riders to either take a G train to the Carroll Street stop and switch to a F train or if you're trying to get to the Smith & 9th stop, to take the F to the 7th Avenue stop and wait for a Court Sq-bound G train. Here's hoping the notoriously unreliable G service will get better. Jamaica-bound F trains also skip Fort Hamilton Parkway and 15th St-Prospect Park stops. Come May 2011, however, the Smith & 9th station will be completely closed until spring 2012. Time to study up on bus routes and get a bike.
