F2P: Making Money in Runescape Using: Combat Skills

Charles Berkler II
Being a Free-2-Play player on Runescape comes with it's own challenges. It may seem impossible to keep up with the money you need to continue your progress in RuneScape. Luckily, there are some ways to make money still. This guide will explain a few ways to make money by training your combat skills.

Chickens

Killing Chickens has been a very commonly used way to make money just after starting RuneScape since it came out. Chickens are located between Lumbridge and Varrock at the Farm. Each chicken drops meat, which can be cooked and used as food, as well as bones and feathers. The feathers have a demand on the Grand Exchange and can be sold for a profit since several drop per chicken.

Hill Giants

Hill Giants are one of the most common was for F2P players to train their combat. Located at Edgeville Dungeon, they drop Big Bones, good for prayer and worth around 500 coins each, as well as other valuable drops. They're not terrible hard to kill because of their low defense. The only downside is that Hill Giants spawns may become very overpopulated during peak hours on some worlds, so the experience gained is varied.

Money Earned: 2/10
Experience Gain: 4/10
Difficulty: 3.5/10

Moss Giants

Moss giants can be found in Varrock Sewers. They're similar to Hill Giants, drop Big Bones as well as gems and other valuables, and can be used to train your combat skills just as well (if not better) than hill giants. Moss Giants are an alternative to Hill Giants if they're too populated to get any kills on.

Please take into consideration that with the constantly changing prices in the Grand Exchange, some techniques may not make as much money as you hoped for. Do some research yourself beforehand and find the thing that you like doing the most, or the one that makes the most money for you. There is no 'wrong' way to do things in RuneScape, that's the fun of it.
