Faber Vs. Aldo WEC 48 Results

Aldo Beats Faber Via Unanimous Decision

Jake Emen
The highly anticipated WEC pay-per-view card results are in, and in WEC 48 Urijah Faber lost to champion Jose Aldo via lopsided unanimous decision. The result is not necessarily surprising, given Aldo's domination and tear through the division, as well as Faber's inability to deal with Mike Brown in two defeats.

However, Faber vs. Aldo is surprising in the fact that Urijah Faber is the biggest star in the WEC. The WEC 48 results were presented on pay-per-view largely because of his ability to sell a fight, and the astounding match-up against a premier and super-entertaining fighter such as Jose Aldo. But it was Aldo, the champion, that stole the show, and retained his featherweight championship in the process.

The final scorecards for Faber vs. Aldo WEC 48 were 49-45, 49-45 and 50-45. That shows that the judges for Aldo vs. Faber had the fight nearly being a shutout. The judges were not alone either, the Pro Fighting Fans MMA Blog scored the bout 50-45 in favor of defending champion Jose Aldo as well. Yes, Jose Aldo is that good.

Faber's game has always been dominance through sheer athleticism and creativity in offensive arsenal. Unfortunately for him, that is an area that Aldo is unmatched in, perhaps across the entire world of MMA. His ferocious, athletic and unique assault outdoes even what Urijah Faber is able to bring to the table, and that's how he was able to win the day.

In a shocker of a bout, former UFC lightweight fighter Manny Gamburyan defeated Mike Brown via KO just minutes into the first round. Of course, Brown was the man to topple Faber and take away his chokehold of the division, so Gamburyan is now in line for a title shot against Aldo in the near future.

Also of note, Benson Henderson was able to take out fan favorite challenger Donald "The Cowboy" Cerrone by guillotine choke in the first round. He retained his lightweight title in a rematch of a fight the two previously had.

That does it for the WEC 48 results. Faber vs. Aldo showed that Jose Aldo is absolutely legit. The guy is more than athletic, he's highly skilled, and he can cope with the challenges presented by fighters as different and as talented as Mike Brown and Urijah Faber.

I was surprised Faber got dominated they way he did. To lose is one thing but it wasn't even close.

This fight was the most boring fight of the night. I cannot believe I paid to watch a guy kick another guys leg for 25 minutes. It was like watching a boxing match. The guy with the reach won because he kept the other guy at a distance. Aldo is usualy exciting to watch and finishes the fight. Last night he stood there like a jackass and kicked a leg, then punched about twice per round. The only exciting part was the crucifix at the end of the 4th round. I will not pay to watch Aldo fight again. I cannot stand when an exciting fighter like Fabor is put up against someone that won't attack. A leg kick is a deffensive move and I hated almost every minute of that fight.
