When you think of a role-playing game, what comes to mind? Swords and magic thrown into a medieval setting? For me, it's having the ability to do whatever you feel like with your character. While the original Fable broke down some of the walls constricting this ability with its release on the original XBox, even devoted fans could admit that it still left room for expansion. With the technology provided by the XBox 360, Lionhead had an even better platform upon which to build on its creation. They left no holds barred with their 2008 release of Fable 2, which went places that no RPG has been able to before or since.

The plot of Fable 2 starts in a medieval city, with the main character and their older sister living on its streets. After a series of mysterious and magical events, the main character is left alone, and taken in by an even more mysterious woman. Raised in a gypsy camp, he/she swears to avenge the death of his sister. How they do this is up to you. While the storyline of Fable 2 is improved considerably from its predecessor, the large world the game takes place in and the number of side quests and distractions will soon have the main story on the back burner.

Fable 2's graphics aren't breathtaking in the fact that they are unique or realistic, but in the fact that they are so dynamic. Feed your character too many pies, and he gets fat. Kill a few innocent citizens, and he will start to grow horns. This game is unique in the fact that you can have children, which grow from a baby to about ten or twelve years old. Audio in this game suffices, but could have been done better. The tracks of background music seem to get repetitive. There are quite a few unique responses that you can get from in-game characters, but if you play the game long enough even those become tiring.

Playability can be unlimited, but I personally found that the game got a little tiring after the first time I beat it. The main issues I have here are the arsenal of weapons and wardrobe available to the player. There is a very small amount of both, something which I had anticipated to be quite the opposite.

All things considered, if you like a good role-player as much as I do, Fable 2 is definitely one for the collection.
