Fabulous You In Fabulous Fashion - All Summer Long

Christine
When temperatures rise the one trend that lasts from year to year is more skin starts to show. This year's summer fashion trends are complying with this timeless trend but you are going to see a lot more bohemian look than ever. What this means is, while you are baring more skin, you are going to be finding loose fitting garments that are easy to wear, comfortable, and only show as much skin as you want to show. This year is all about short shorts, mini minis, and loose fitting tops. This article will provide some basics to these essentials and hopefully outfit you from top to bottom.

Tops

Gauzy materials and cotton are summer's favorite fabrics. They are loose, breathe easy, and are wash and wear. For tops you are going to see baby dolls, empire waists, tube tops (another timeless trend) and a lot of smocked pieces. These are the trends this year. Free People through Urban Outfitters are very chic and very bohemian with this years trends for tops. They are all very comfortable to wear, and offer a great look that is both cute and sexy at the same time.

If you are looking for something a little more affordable, then you have to check out Sarah Jessica Parker's new line of Summer fashion. Her line is called Bitten. You will remember her from Sex and the City. Without my schooling in the fashion house of Carrie Bradshaw, my climb up the fashion obsession ladder would have been much slower. Here we watched Carrie Bradshaw become enamored with Manolos and Big - in this order. We watched her heart burst into pieces when then boyfriend forced her to trash a *gasp* Roberto Cavalli piece. We saw her mourn the loss of her beloved Manolos after she was mugged in New York City. As she flounced around Manhattan in tutus and midriff revealing tops we all learned a little bit more about good fashion happening to good people. It is only fitting then that Sarah Jessica Parker would launch her own clothing line. This line however is much more affordable than the legendary Manolos or Cavalli pieces. You can catch a great review of the Bitten line and other designers at this article.

Bottoms

Well, I hate to break it to you girls, but short shorts and mini mini's are all the rage this season. In fact, they started as a trend last year and have carried through this year with even shorter hem lines. Today's look is somewhat retro and while we aren't quite at the hot pants stage yet, this years collections all came very close. High waists are something you are going to see in both skirts and shorts, and for those of you a little uncomfortable with baring your legs, the high waist may give you that added comfort. Proenza Schouler had some beautiful pieces in their runway collections, which you can buy at the more affordable ready-to-wear Target outlets. If you are worried about the shape of your legs, check out this article for some excellent at home ab and thigh toners you can do to get those gams in mini mini shape.

Shoes

Shoes in heeled form are the rage this season and you are going to see platforms and heels on everything from flip flops to evening wear. The good thing about heels is if you are the least bit concerned about showing your legs in shorts and minis, a good heel will flatter ANY leg shape. The trend that hit the runways and the retailers this year in large form is the wedge. This is in cork or twined material that creates a wedge around the heel providing a uniform heeled shoe. You can get these in either casual or evening wear, though they are generally worn for daytime. I got a pair through a Cosmo writing contest and was pleasantly surprised to find them as my new favorite shoe. So cute, and so comfortable.

The peep toe is another big trend this year, and it is just what it sounds like. Again you will see this on anything from sandals to evening wear. Many are also coming with a platform heel. If you want a deeper look at this years shoe trends, have a "peek" at this article.

Now that you are dressed from top to bottom, what are you waiting for? Go out and show off how fabulous you are!
