Fabulous Floral Trends for 2011 Weddings

Cheryl Engelke
There are so many trends this year for wedding floral arrangements. From the glitz and glam of jewels to the simple vintage monochromatic tones, flowers for your wedding in 2011 just go to show you that pretty much anything goes.

Feathers - A big trend over the past few years, feathers give you that vintage romance and whimsy. Feathers are so versatile you can use them in your floral arrangement or all on their own. Ostrich feathers are fluffy and feminine while peacock feathers can add a more whimsical or elegant mood to your floral arrangement.

Back to Nature - Brides today are looking more to natural elements for wedding floral arrangements. By using mason jars and tin pails to house centerpieces of local wildflowers tied with raffia or filling them with seashells; brides are bringing Mother Nature front and center. Another trend in natural floral arrangements is found in your local produce section. Herbs, fruits, and vegetables are a fabulous way to bring color, texture and nature into your floral arrangements. Asian elements such as cherry blossoms, bamboo, or river rocks are also great natural ways to make your floral arrangements bloom.

Vintage - Monochromatic soft pastels or creams are a wonderful way to bring that vintage romance to your wedding. Remember not to use white, though. Gray undertones to highlight the sepia quality to your vintage wedding look.

Glitz and Glam - Glam up your floral arrangements by adding some crystals or jewels to them. You can tie in the crystals to your wedding colors or just use a simple clear crystal or rhinestones. Always remember, though, less is more. Jewels are meant to accent, not take away from your floral arrangements. Using rhinestone bracelets for wristlet corsages can even tie the theme into your bridal party's accessories. Strings of pearls or crystals can be intertwined into your floral arrangements or crystal picks are a good way to incorporate glitz to your flowers.

Crazy Color Combos - Color is really in for 2011 weddings. Bring some color to your wedding by throwing in some crazy color combinations. Bright Orange and fuchsia,Teal and green, red and yellow...whatever you can think of. Bring it all together and do not be afraid to expand your color palate.

Different is Dynamic - The best thing to remember when it comes to your floral arrangements for your wedding is that conformity is out. Vary the heights of your arrangements or vary your arrangements all together. Have some simple smaller feather-only arrangements and some larger arrangements with flowers incorporated with matching feathers. Use your imagination and have fun! This is your big day.
