Fabulous Fruit Salad Recipes

By Combining Fruit, You Get Even More Healthy Antioxidants, Vitamins and Minearals

Mary Martin
Fresh fruit salad not only adds outstanding color and mouth watering flavor to food choices, but antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, too. The health benefits of this favorite are many. What a wonderful benefit of enjoying a serving of cool, tempting slices and chunks of seasonal delight. And who would have thought that when you combine the fruit into a salad that the health benefits are even greater?

There are so many ways to prepare a fruit salad and it can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours to prepare depending on the recipe chosen. The most popular recipes are for three types of salad: natural, with dressing or frozen.

Natural

Many people prefer to taste the natural flavors of fruit with no additional ingredients or dressings. By combining types of fruit, many flavors may be created, which bring out a particular fruit or that combines the flavors of the fruit to create a taste all its own. Choosing seasonal fruit may lead to a citrus blend, a harvest bowl of apples and pears or a summer blend of berries, mixed fruit or specialty fruit. The beautiful and many colors of fruit make it easy to prepare an outstanding presentation using very little in the way of other items.

Dressed

Adding a dressing to fruit may define the flavor or change it to sweet or tangy. Choices of prepared dressings as well as recipes for dressings are numerous. Finding the dressing that delivers the desired flavor is not as difficult as it sounds. Simply look for the flavor desired as described by the ingredients and give it a try; experimentation is the best method. Descriptions on bottles, packages and recipes will be a great guide. Dressed fruit may be nestled in a lettuce cup with little or no other ingredients or may be combined with vegetables or other foods to create a special flavor.

Frozen

Not just for summer frozen fruit may be served prepared in a mold, grated, blended or sliced and mixed with other ingredients to make it sweet, tart, creamy or to give it a whole new texture. Special frozen fruit recipes are available for holidays, desserts, side dishes, ice creams and granitas to name a few. Molded fruit salad looks regal either as a large salad or as small, individual servings. Frozen fruit dishes are spectacular served in stemware or special serving dishes that show them off.

Welcome all year, fruit fits into most any meal at any time.
