Face to Face with Ashlyn Dixon: Star of the Highly Anticipated Sci Fi Thriller, "Paranormal"

I had the chance to sit down with actress Ashlyn Dixon the day before her birthday. She was reading her "Paranormal" script and talking to friends on her cell phone. Her Texas accent really comes out when she is speaking with her buddies from back home. We met at her hotel room, in Beverly Hills. She is getting ready to go on location outside of Phoenix next week. Ashlyn is one of the most stylish young ladies, in the industry today. She displays class and character with an unexplainable charm and charisma.

D.G: " So Ashlyn, tell me about your character, Amanda Keller in Paranormal."

A.D. " Amanda is a professor, the youngest at her University. She's tough and dedicated to her quest to find the
answers of the paranormal. She's also hot! That means that I am in the gym every day, to make Amanda look good."

D.G. "Are there any similarities between you and your character?"

A.D " Of course, I'm Texan and with that comes a tough attitude. Also, Amanda has a mischievous side to her. This is something that we both share. My best friend is Jason Davis and I love to play pranks on him. I even toilet papered

C.C. Deville's house one time, as a joke."

D.G. " How do you know C.C.?"

A.D. " We dated....long story. Too long for this interview."

D.G. " Okay, are you seeing anyone now?"

A.D. " Not really. I am pretty busy with Paranormal. I like to go out to Hyde, in LA with my friend Jason and sometimes I date Sean Stewart, but no one serious. I have heard rumors that I was dating Jerry Ferrara (Entourage), but I haven't even met him. I have hung out with Kevin (his co star) though. Kevin is really sweet."

D.G. " Have you had many red carpet events this year?"

A.D. " Yes! I have been to a lot of events. My schedule has kept me off of the red carpet here lately, but I will be at The People's Choice, SAG Awards, The Golden Globes and the Grammys. I still need a date...so here's my chance to shout out to Waylon Payne! He played Jerry Lee Lewis in Walk the Line. I think he is smokin'!"

D.G." I can't believe that you used this interview to get a date...you are crazy. For what it's worth, he would be crazy to not respond."

A.D. " Right?"

D.G. " Let's talk about some of your influences, who has challenged you in your art?"

A.D. " My grandmother has supported everything that I have ever done. She inspired me to act and sing. Professionally, Loretta Lynn, Shirley McClain, Meryl Streep, Sally Field and Alan Rickman, are at the top of my list. Others, like Jack Black, Angelina Jolie and Natalie Portman have also been some of my favorite people in the industry. They are true professionals and role models. Music is my second passion and I think that Kelly Clarkson has one of the most amazing voices ever. My favorite writer in music is Lemmy Kilmeister of Motorhead. He is an absolute genius. Lemmy and I have birthdays that are very close and we celebrate them at The Rainbow, if our schedules let us.

D.G. " Speaking of birthdays, Happy Birthday tomorrow. What will you do this year, that is different than last year?"

A.D. (LAUGHING) " Last year I was snowed in with Gene Simmons and his family. we were shooting Gene Simmons Family Jewels and I was dating Nick, Gene's son. I froze my ass off, fought with Nick and everyone forgot my birthday! It sucked! Then I had to listen to Gene and Nick fight all the way home. Hours and hours of listening to Gene give Nick his views of life. This year, I will have a few friends over, watch some movies and eat pizza. Sounds boring-hu? It still beats how I spent it last year. I can't get a hold of Lemmy, if I could we would be at The Bow. His birthday is the 24th."

D.G. " A lot of critics love your work and many are starting to brand you as Hollywood's next Golden Girl, how does this attention effect you?"

A.D. " Well, I think that they like me because I haven't been arrested yet! (LAUGHING). Personally, I just do my job and try to stay out of trouble. Girls like Paris, Britney and Lindsay seem pathetic to me. They are beautiful, rich and talented and yet they seem to want to hurt themselves. I don't get it. Britney is a mom...jeez! I would freak out if my mom acted like her. I am just glad that her kids aren't old enough to see what she is doing. As for me, I have my eye on this hot guy named Oscar. He runs in exclusive circles and only hangs out with the best in the business." (SMILED AND WINKED)

D.G. " It has been an absolute pleasure to speak with you."

A.D. (HUGGED ME) " Thank you."

Ashlyn Dixon is not pretentious or jaded. She is fun and possesses a very positive energy. I know that we will see big things from her. I have a feeling that she will be "hooking up" with her man Oscar in the near future.
