Looking for a fun free event to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day? The Fort Worth Stockyards has just what you are looking for with a live Irish band, green horses and steer roping lessons. On Saturday March 12 from 1PM to dusk the Fort Worth Stockyards will be going green for the 6th Annual Cowtown Goes Green. This event offers something for the entire family. Face painting, stick horse races, pony rides and a petting zoo. Radio Disney will be broadcasting live from 1PM to 4PM with games and contests. Kids can show their skills at dancing and hula hooping to win some cool prizes. At 4PM the famous cattle drive will fill the streets as it does everyday for Stockyard Visitors to watch. Behind the cattle a parade will follow with local businesses, riding clubs, wagons and historical actors decorated in green. This years parade has grown with people from all over the state coming to celebrate and bringing their horses.

"We are very proud of this event especially since it's the only free family friendly St. Patrick's day celebration in the area." Says Katie Nickles of Stockyard Stations which coordinates events for the popular historic area. "Last year we had record attendance of approximately 8,000 people and (with good weather) we expect the same plus more."

If you haven't already visited the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District this is a great opportunity if you have then you know they know how to throw a party.
