Face Painting for Kids: Crayola Has Kits for Halloween

Nix the Mask - Let Your Face Be Your Character

Tania Cowling
Children love to have their face painted, whether for Halloween, a birthday party, or just for fun any day. There are many paints to choose from, however, keep safety in mind because children's skin is very sensitive and you wouldn't want an allergic reaction or rash to spoil the fun.

During Halloween or any time your child wants to be in costume, a painted face is much safer and easier to wear than a mask. The entire face can be painted allowing your children to take on a special character. Sometimes the alternative to a full-face painting is to do a partial painting, where eye area is targeted to resemble the character or even painting around the nose and mouth for added details. At some parties and events, only a simple design is painted on the cheeks. Whichever process you choose make sure to buy non-toxic face paints for a successful experience.

The Crayola Company has released its Face Painting for Kids and Body Art Henna Design kits that are perfect for Halloween this year. These kits have special cosmetic-based paint applications that are as easy as "peel and stick." You remove the protective coating from the design and press on the swirls, squiggles, dots, and henna designs on the face and skin. Now your child can have an authentic artist design without the fuss and these paints wash off easily with soap and water.

Crayola's face paint kits are available in three themes, each with eight sheets of perforated shapes that will create eight different faces. Instructional worksheets accompany each kit with easy steps. These is also information on the history of face painting that may be of interest to you and your child.

The girl-themed package includes feminine designs to delight little girls who wish to transform into a princess, fairy, mermaid, flower child, butterfly, tribal girl, kitten, and unicorn. For the boys, the kits will reflect an energy status where youngsters can become super heroes, monsters, dragons, tribal boy, lizard, bugs, spiders, and tigers.

Sometimes children want to become characters that have no gender. Crayola's neutral theme kit fit's the bill with designs to paint such as clowns, birds, bunnies, puppies, a mouse, tiger, wolf, and tribal character. With these kits, face painting is easy and there is a theme or character for everyone. To me, the neutral kit is quite affordable especially if you have both boys and girls in your household.

Tween girls will love to express their individuality and creative talents by using Crayola's Quick and Easy Body Art Henna Design kits. Henna painting is an ancient art form and takes time and skill to apply. With these kits and Crayola's press-on decals, your child gets great results with minimal effort. Don't worry about this henna as it is made from a cosmetic-based paint and washes off with plain soap and water. The shades are in rich deep brown, dark red, and dark orange colors. There are three design kits to choose from; ancient, floral, and tribal. Each kit contains eight sheets of perforated designs, one body art pencil, and instructions. Real about the cultural art of henna painting and history with the fact sheet that is included.

Make Halloween or any other event exciting with face painting. Your kids will enjoy the experience and you will have peace of mind that masks will not obstruct their views when trick-or-treating or participating in party games.
