Facebook is Changing My Life

Jaahda Jinnah
I enlisted myself onto Facebook a couple of weeks ago and it has really changed my life.
Sounds like a sweeping remark or an advertisement I know but I have found people I had long ago lost and now cyberspace is bringing them back to me.
I've found ex boyfriends, ex girlfriends, ex students from schools and universities I once worked at, some long lost relatives and, of course many of my current friends; although it's far more likely that I will find the progeny of friends rather than my friends themselves.

You may have also noticed that I have been a bit absent around here. Whilst Facebook may be partly to blame I have also been busy with many appointments and assorted 'real life' distractions that have successfully managed to distract me from writing.
And I've been on a social whirlwind; catching up with long lost friends.

I caught up with an ex boyfriend. That was somewhat weird being that I have been so single now for a number of years. I thought I had completely fallen off track with such matters and catching up with him reminded me of philosophical and prioritorial changes in my life.
Hitting your past head-on like this can also be fairly confronting too and I've found new impetus and motivation for 'getting things moving along' in a direction I would like to take. Hitting the past head-on like that can make one really aware of what your eulogy might well be.
And now after 2-3 weeks I've only scratched the surface of my new social calendar. I've gotten invitations that are going to take another month or so to fulfill.
It's all been rather exciting really.

It's the time of year that the garden demands attention and when one lives on a farm this means at least a couple of weeks or more 'hard yakka'.
This also is the time of year to go deep into the bush to collect bush medicines during September and October.
And it's the time of year that 'everyone comes out of the closet' (their winter closet) and decides that my farm is their favored destination.

Perhaps by now you are getting the picture.
But I've certainly missed being here and I'm hanging out for the time when I can once again find some quiet time to sit and write. And the list of future articles inside my head is starting to quickly mount up.
In fact I'm really starting to miss 'quiet time'. I can't wait to get a whole week (even 5 days will do) where the only living things I see are the flora and fauna around my farm. Gotta somehow strike a balance between my hermit side and the fast paced social whirl that being on Facebook has created for me.

Keep posted.

I recently joined Facebook and have already reunited with lots of old high school friends and family members. Now I can chat and stay in contact with them easier than ever!

I love Facebook, too. I really do feel closer to friends and family, even those who live far away, now that we can "hang out" in Facebook world.
