Facebook's Vampire Wars: Five Tips for Starting Out Right

N. I. Annakindt
Vampire Wars is a popular Facebook game where you assume the persona of a vampire, do vampire missions, fight other vampires, and accumulate vampire wealth--- blood. Beginning right in this game can make the difference between constant frustration and being a high-ranking and satisfied vampire lord or lady.

The first essential tip on Vampire Wars is this: always bank your blood. How do you do this? Click on the 'blood' indicator and the blood bank will pop up. You will lose some blood every time you bank, but so what? Keeping that blood in the bank keeps it from getting lost when another vampire attacks you. Keeping blood banked has the additional effect that many attacking vampires will stop with one attack when they see that they are getting no blood from their attacks.

The second tip for Vampire Wars success is build up your clan numbers from the start. Don't do this by pestering your friends and family to play Vampire Wars if they are not interested. It's better to make new, vampire-oriented friends to add to your clan. There are a number of Vampire Wars groups on Facebook where you can pick up new members. One favorite of mine is "Vampire Wars -Tips and Hints- Kill To Live & Live To Kill" (http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/group.php?gid=183145756121&ref=ss).

Once you join this group, add a few of the people who have posted 'add me' messages on the group's wall as your Facebook friends. Be sure and mention 'Vampire Wars' in the message when you ask to be Facebook friends. Also remember to set up a new list of friends--- call it 'VW" or 'Vampire Wars'--- and add all your Vampire Wars friends to this list. Do this now before you have two hundred Vampire Wars friends to keep track of.

Don't forget to add your new Vampire Wars friends to your clan. Visit their profile page--- many successful vampires put up their clan link on their profile page in the space below the picture. You can do this yourself--- your invite link is on Vampire Wars, on the Clan tab, on the page where you are asked to invite others to join your clan. The URL on the page is your invite link. An invite link looks like this: (facebook.com/vampiresgame), only each Vampire Wars player has a different number on it. These invite links will only work if the person is already a Facebook friend, however.

The third tip to Vampire Wars success is to purchase many minions right from the start, and to only purchase minions in groups of ten. What are minions? A minion is a person, or group of persons, that your vampire dominates and draws blood from. The more minions you have, the more blood you earn. And you will need blood as the game progresses. You will be buying a lot of offensive, defensive and movement abilities, and upgrading those abilities. This costs blood both for the initial purchase and for upkeep, so ensure a good blood supply now, or you will be sorry later.

Many people make the mistake of buying minions one by one. But each time you do this, the cost goes up. Save up your blood and buy minions in groups of ten to keep the price low.

The fourth tip to being a good Vampire Wars player is to treat your clan members well. Send them gifts every day that you play. If you have more clan members than you can send gifts to, keep a record so that you will know, for example, that you sent to all clan members up to a certain vampire, and then the next day you can send gifts to the next group.

Read the message feed on the first page of Vampire Wars to see what your clan members are doing. If they need a mission item that you can send as a gift, send them one. If they want to have their vampire judged, so they can win an energy refill, do so. When you earn a reward that your clan members can share in, post it to your Facebook wall when prompted to do so, and then tell the clan about it on the message feed.

If you want to earn bonuses and rewards from your clan members' actions, read your news feed on Facebook for updates. You can filter this feed to just the Vampire Wars items by using this link (http://www.facebook.com/home.php?filter=app_25287267406)

The fifth tip for Vampire Wars success is to advance by doing missions and fighting every time you play Vampire Wars. Missions are what earn you the best amounts of blood and experience points to get ahead. In addition, by mastering missions you earn higher titles. Don't neglect the missions, even if you prefer fighting.

Fighting other vampires is part of the game of Vampire Wars. On the 'Combat' tab you will see a list of other vampires at about your level you might fight. The reason you want to fight is that it is the only way to earn skill ranking. Choose a vampire with a skill ranking a little below your own, and a clan a little smaller than yours. You want someone you can win against, but one who is enough of a challenge for you to earn skill ranking.

While fighting is a part of the game, it's not considered good form to pick on someone much weaker than you, or to keep fighting the same person over and over again. And don't get mad every time someone else fights you and put them on the hitlist--- that's considered being a poor sport. Save the hitlist for a vampire that repeatedly attacks you, if you must. It's actually a better strategy to ask a vampire that attacks and beats you to join your vampire clan, since this will stop the attacks cold since you are not permitted to fight vampires of your own clan.

Vampire Wars can be a very enjoyable game if you use a few strategy tips to play more intelligently. But do remember--- it's only a game. If you remember that, and don't hold grudges over things that happen in the game, you will be a much happier undead vampire.
