Facial Bone Found on Beach in Aruba: A Link to Natalee Holloway?

Julia Bodeeb
Natalee Holloway's family and friends have been waiting a long time for information about where and how Natalee died, or if indeed she was murdered. She was last seen in 2005 while on vacation in Aruba with her high school classmates from Birmingham, Alabama.

Holloway was 18 at the time of her disappearance. Her adult life was just beginning. However, she seems to have met a predator and most likely lost her life that night in Aruba.

Will the mystery of the disappearance of Natalee Holloway soon be solved? On a beach near the Phoenix Hotel in Aruba, a couple on vacation found a jaw bone, reports the Daily Mail. It is not yet known if the bone is human or animal. Forensic testing is underway to see if the bone could possibly be from Natalee.

If so, perhaps Natalee's body will be found buried on the beach or out at sea in that area. Her parents would like to bring her home for burial in Alabama. For a parent to lose a child and not even have a body to bury is incredibly tragic.

Joran van der Sloot

Joran van der Sloot of Aruba has long been a suspect in the alleged murder. Over the years, he was arrested two times, but was never charged with a crime. Natalee left a bar with Joran and two of his friends, according to witnesses there that night. He is now in prison in Peru for allegedly killing Stephanie Flores, a young Peruvian woman. Van der Sloot had brought up the location of the Phoenix Hotel when talking about Natalee with investigators. Is this the spot where she was killed?

Natalee's mother, Beth Holloway, recently visited van der Sloot in jail in Peru. He did not give her any information about the cause of Natalee's death or the location of her remains. The Daily Mail reports that Joran told Mrs. Holloway "I hope you can understand it's very hard for me to talk to you. I know you have a very good heart... It is the least I owe you, for sure. I've made so many bad decisions and for all the wrong reasons."

It is tragic that Natalee's family is left without any answers as to where she is. And it remains a mystery why this young woman would leave a bar with several strangers. Perhaps she was drugged while at the nightclub.

Who Knows Where Natalee Holloway Is?

There are probably numerous people in Aruba who know exactly what happened to Holloway. Whoever killed her may have discussed it with friends, or people may have seen her at the location where she was killed. But it seems omerta is holding strong in this case.

Van der Sloot's father was a judge. His family is well-connected in Aruaba. And, thus, perhaps people are afraid to tell the police what they know about this murder. Silence surrounds this crime.

Perhaps now this bone discovered on a beach will speak loudly about where Natalee was killed. It is horrifying to think that her body could be buried on a beach where tourists are frolicking. But really, with Holloway missing all these years and no one charged with her murder, who would want to visit Aruba?

The Aruban criminal justice system seems to have let Natalee down. Justice has not been served in her murder.
How can a young woman just disappear without a trace without anyone being held responsible for the crime?

RIP Natalee Holloway. And let's hope that soon your parents will have your remains to bury you so you can rest at peace in Alabama.

I hope that Joran Van Der Slime knows about this. Most of the world thinks he's guilty. It will be interesting if the pressure makes him slip up and ties up the loose ends in this case. Natalee didn't deserve this and neither do her family members.
