Today CNN.com.featured Mark Milian's Facebook Facial Recognition. Millan's article reveals that in short time Facebook, without exception, will start scanning all images that are uploaded to its social network system. Facebook will then attempt to identify each person through its facial recognition program.
Facebook users will be afforded the opportunity to opt out of this feature through the manipulation of their privacy settings. However, the CNN article does not specify if the default privacy setting will enable or disable this identification feature. Additionally since individual Facebook users will possess the capability to "manually tag friends" it appears that a person's privacy could be compromised against their will.
The ramifications and magnitude of Facebook's intentions are extremely broad in scope and should not be underestimated. One thing is for certain, Mark Zuckerberg displayed tremendous foresight when he chose the name Facebook for his social networking site.
In my estimation, if CNN is reporting these developments accurately, Facebook in my book is well on its way to being considered Disgracebook.

Scary stuff alright.
Thanks for this excellent information, Han! You always do a great job of reporting!!
So,more than half a year later, I notice there has been no protest nor recant. Very creepy indeed.
Yes interesting, because I see many people posting there entire family including babies and little ones on there. Almost alarming as the fact that the government has mandated medical offices and dr offices to have all patients information on the computer now. Paper files will eventually be a thing of the past.
Just came across this. Scary scary. My husband dislikes Facebook and I am not allowed to post any photos on it. I thank him for that.
Thanks for leaving double comments on my article :)
