Facial Scrubs Compared

Gasp, yes I'm reviewing store brands. I'm a firm believer that marketing hype plays a major role in which beauty products people buy.

Take a look at the ingredients if you're not sure - don't believe the hype!

Facial scrub isn't recommended for daily use, but your skin produces millions of dead skin cells daily, says beauty expert Sarah Harrigan.

Moisturizer can't penetrate evenly and build up can irritate your skin, causing imperfections. Plus if you use makeup, your foundation won't look natural, but caked on and pasty. You want an even and clear complexion, right?

Experts recommend scrubs to exfoliate dead skin cells. Cleanser alone won't remove dead layers of skin evenly.

Because the use of a facial scrub seriously improves your skin's appearance, really consider ingredients when you're purchasing product. Some might agitate sensitive skin.

According to reports, St. Ives Medicated Apricot Scrub is the best selling facial scrub on the market today. The brand offers variations of their facial scrub, but I chose to examine their Invigorating line and I compared it to Target's Apricot Facial Scrub.

Both feature all natural extracts such as sunflower, walnut, corn, and apricot. Surprise, surprise: both have almost the exact same ingredients.

Who knew that the winner of Seventeen Magazine's "Bestie" award had a twin on the shelves at Target.

The only ingredient missing from the Target's Apricot Scrub is bark extract. Both scrubs appear the same and feel the same on my skin, so that one ingredient must not be the key to St. Ives skyrocketing sales.

In fact, I used each scrub myself for three weeks - twice daily. Both exfoliated effectively. My sensitive skin felt smooth and clear without a sign of irritation.

These scrubs range from 3-6 bucks and are worth every little penny.

Oh really? I like the way it smells! I recently switched back to St. Ives and honestly think the Target brand works better. Thanks for reading!
