Facial Tips for the Fifty and Plus Woman

Diane Cross
We all have to age but there are those who seem NOT to. In fact, there are people who swear that they look better at 55 than they did when they were in their 30's. We wonder what their secret is, aside from surgical procedures like having a facelift, but most of those who look 30 at 55, have some secret beauty tips. Most of these "tips" may sound old-fashioned or too holistic, but the fact is that they work :

1. Make sure that your face is clean all the time. This doesn't mean constant washing, but there is nothing as lovely as seeing a clean face no matter what your age is. Though most people will say that constant face washing can cause your face to dry (which is true), the "after cleaning" ritual is just as important. Make sure however that you never use soap that have too much chemicals. Try a soft creamy non-allergenic soap.

2.That means MOISTURIZE a LOT! Moisturizing keeps your face from drying. Moisturizers keep and skin and face hydrated. Choose a good moisturizer which has the least chemicals. There are those new "natural" moisturizers now available in most facial product stores.

3. There is NOTHING that makes you and your face look healthy than WATER and lots of it. Drink more than 8 glasses of water everyday. You may also wish to spray your face with cool mineral water during the hot months. Evian (and other facial specialty stores) offer "face sprays".

4.Use natural facial scrubs. An example of this washing your face with a gentle soap or facial cleanser and oat meal. Using facial scrubs is important because it helps take away the "dead skin" which makes your face appear "older". Incidentally, oat meal may also be a great facial mask.

5.Have a facial at least once a week. If your budget doesn't allow you to do this, you have your own facial by cleansing, applying hot compress to open your pores then trying a facial mask. You may use natural facial masks like egg whites, oat meal, and even avocados. Go natural and try these alternatives. They have less chemicals and they do not hurt your budget!

6. During the winter cold months try washing your face gently with cold water and apply Olive Oil or Lavender Essential Oil instead of a moisturizer. The cold months tend to dry and crack your face making more prone to wrinkling. Using natural oil protects the face from the ravages of an extremely cold environment.

7. Allow your face to breathe. Give your face a "vacation" day every week by not applying any cosmetics or make-up during that day. Most make -ups and cosmetics have chemicals and these tend to harm more than help your skin, particularly after your 50s.

8. Have enough sleep, do not stress, do not smoke and eat right. Remember this: the biggest factor that causes skin aging is STRESS. It is stress which makes you frown, causes those wrinkles, and gives you those eyebags too. Inner peace is the best "cure" to aging too fast. Relax and THINK every time you are upset that worrying about ANYTHING will add one more wrinkle in your face.

9. If you see a wrinkle try the natural cure of applying Mosqueta Oil. Mosqueta Oil (Rose Hip Oil) is a natural cure which "fattens" the burrows in your face and sometimes erases facial lines. Rose Hip has also been used for burns and scars. Recent studies have proven that Rose Hip Oil is one of those most underrated natural beauty products.

10. Instead of using anti-aging invasive methods like Botox, try having a facial massage every two weeks. Facial massage has only been recently accepted as an anti-aging measure but it has been proven that having a regular facial massage increases your facial circulation thus making your face look better. Facial massage also helps reduce "unattractive fleshiness" while keeping your face hydrated and allowing you to relax. Aging doesn't come with age. The truth is that there are people who look 50 at 30 and vice versa. It is all a matter of taking care of yourself and finding that inner peace which teaches you the lesson that stress is the ULTIMATE reason why people "look old".
