It is an effort every teacher must face at some point in their careers to try to teach what others consider hopeless. If the students have given up on themselves, the teacher will often give up as well. Watch this teacher as he pulls himself up through the muck and mud daily life offers on a cheap and cracked platter to try to save himself and the students who depend on him for guidance. How can he help them when he can't even seem to help himself? Haven't we all been there at one time or another? The tears and the laughter will keep you riveted to the screen, wondering how he can manage to keep his faith against all the odds.
The 6 year effort he has made just to hold the team together and endure the jeers of the parents and other teachers who felt he should just throw in the towel and face the facts puts him under tremendous pressure. His dream, it seems, was all for nothing. He is truly "Facing the Giants" as his efforts to pull the team through seem to be for nothing. Will his stress break his career and his marriage?
A parent who doesn't even like the coach and has no time for his son, a colleague who is offered the job himself and seems to betray, and kids who lose heart are all the ingredients for disaster. So, how can he overcome and help them become proud of themselves again? Grab your box of tissues, and wait until you see the end! You can follow "Facing the Giants" all the way through without worry of hiding your child's eyes, covering their ears, or cringing at the content.
This movie from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is sure to hold your interest as you cry and cheer along with the movie!

Post a CommentThis film was actually made by a church in Georgia and then picked up by Sony for Distribution. I found a great interview with the director here:

Facing The Giants is their second film. The first film they made is called Flywheel, and while it lacks some of the production value of "Giants", it too has a powerful message. It's worth watching too!
I watched this movie and it is by far one of the absolute best I have ever seen. It's been a tremendous blessing in so many ways. Great article! :)
