Factbox: Zachary Quinto Admits He's Gay

After much speculation, actor Zachary Quinto admitted he is gay during a recent interview with New York Magazine. Quinto is now promoting his new movie "Margin Call," and recently had a eight-month run in the play Angels in America. This play is about the early days of the AIDS epidemic. Quinto played the role of Louis Ironson, a man who leaves his boyfriend who has AIDS. This struck a nerve with Quinto, and made him realize that there is so much that needs to be done and addressed.

Zachary Quinto has achieved many accomplishments throughout his acting career.

Here are some facts about both Quinto's life and career:

* He is a native of Pittsburgh, and graduated from Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama.

* Zachary Quinto is most famous for his role as serial killer Sylar on "Heroes." He also had guest roles on the shows "Touched by an Angel," "The Agency," "Six Feet Under," and "Joan of Arcadia," just to name a few.

* From 2003 to 2004, Quinto had a recurring role on the FOX series 24. He played the character computer expert Adam Kaufman.

* In 2009, Zachary Quinto was nominated for the Teen Choice Award for Choice TV: Villain

* In the first film of the "Star Trek" movies series Quinto played Spock.

* Quinto's company Before the Door helped to build and produce his latest movie "Margin Call." The movie is about the financial meltdown of 2008, and gives insight to the mindsets behind it.

* The suicide of Jamey Rodemeyer, who was bullied because he was gay, inspired Zachary Quinto to come out. Quinto wrote a touching note on his blog about this tragedy and his decision.

* Zachary Quinto has a gay role on the new FX show "American Horror Story." He also played a gay character named Sasan on Tori Spelling's Show "So NoTORIous." These are just a couple of many gay characters he has played throughout his acting career.
