Hugh Jackman plays Wolverine / Logan. Jackman was born on October 12, 1968 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He has four older siblings. His mother left him and his family when he was eight years old. Hugh's first big production was in 1985, when he starred in a production of My Fair Lady at the Knox Grammar School. He went on to attend the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Western Austrailia. He graduated in 1994. Jackson continued his career on stage, playing such roles as Gaston in Beauty and the Beast and Joe Gillis in Sunset Boulevard. The Australian actor got early film roles in Erskineville Kings and Paperback hero. But he was also appearing on television in the drama series, Correlli. Finally, he got his big break in 2000, when he played the lead role of Wolverine in the first film adaptation of the X-Men comic. Aside from playing Wolverine, Jackman has also starred in such hits as Kate & Leopold, The Prestige and the most recent film, Australia. Hugh was also given the chance to host the 2008 Oscar ceremony in which he came close to stealing the show.
Liev Shreiber plays Sabretooth / Victor Creed. Liev and Jackson worked together in Kate & Leopold. I guess Jackman wanted Shreiber to play Sabretooth on account of his competitive streak. In the film, Liev's Victor Creed is Logan's brother and a fellow soldier. Together, they make one hell of a team. Apart, they make quite the pair of rivals as you'll see in the film. Now, Shreiber was born on October 4, 1967 in San Francisco, California. He's an Irish, Australian, Swiss, Scottish, Polish, Ukrainian and German descendant. In 1992, Liev graduated from the Yale School of Drama, starring in the production of Charles Evered's The Size of the World. Originally, Shreiber wanted to become a screenwriter. He went on to supporting roles in various independent films, and major motion pictures, including the Scream trilogy, The Sum of All Fears with Ben Affleck, and The Manchurian Candidate with Denzel Washington. Now, Liev Shreiber is making a big name for himself, starring opposite Daniel Craig in Defiance, and Julia Stiles in the remake of The Omen.
Danny Huston plays William Stryker. In the film, Danny Huston doesn't quite live up to the great, sinister character of William Stryker as previously played by Brian Cox in X2: X-Men United, but he gives the role his best. Huston loved the role due to Stryker's hate and confusion over mutants, given the fact that the character's son is a mutant who may have driven his wife to suicide. Danny Huston was born on May 14, 1962 in Rome, Italy. He is the grandson of Academy-Award winning actor, Walter Huston. You might know this rising star from such films as Leaving Las Vegas, The Aviator, The Constant Gardner and the more recent, How to Lose Friends & Alienate People. No offense to the brilliant actor, but Mr. Huston always seems to be playing sniveling, back-stabbing character. And, Stryker is no exception.
Lynn Collins plays Kayla Silverfox. Viola Lynn Collins or Lynn was born on June 1, 1979. She's married to the star of 10,000 BC, Steven Strait. She has done some work in Shakespearean roles on stage and on screen. You might know her best from small roles in Law & Order, Haunted, Splitsville, Down with Love and The Lake House.
Ryan Reynolds plays Dead Pool / Wade Wilson. You probably know this comedic actor pretty well by now. In case you don't, let me remind you. He picked up a name for himself as the title character in National Lampoon's Van Wilder. He played Hannibal King in Blade: Trinity, and George Lutz in the 2005 remake of Amityville Horror. He continually makes me laugh in such films as Just Friends, and Definitely, Maybe. This rising superstar is Ryan Reynolds or Ryan Rodney Reynold. He was born on October 23, 1976 in Vancouver, British Columbia. His career in film and television started in 1990 with the role of Billy on the Canadian-produce teen soap, Hillside, also known as Fifteen on Nickelodeon. He did a small role on The X-Files. He's also played Michael "Berg" Bergen on Two Guys, A Girl and a Pizza Place. According to my research, Reynolds is currently married to Scarlett Johansson, but I could be wrong.
Other actors in the film include:
Daniel Henney plays Agent Zero / David North. Born on November 29, 1979 in Korea, this British/Korean-American adoptee has starred in such South Korean films as Seducing Mr. Perfect and My Father.
Taylor Kitsch plays Gambit / Remy LeBeau. Another actor from British Columbia, Taylor Kitsch was born on April 8, 1981 in Kelowna. He's been in such films as Snakes on a Plane and The Covenant.
Kevin Durand plays Blob / Frederick J. Dukes. You probably will recognize this actor from the TV series, Lost and Dark Angel, and such films as Mystery Alaska, The Butterfly Effect and Smokin' Aces with Ryan Reynolds. I'd like to say, this actor is odd. Mr. Durand is talented and obvious, and yet, he easily drifts into the background.
Scott Adkins plays Weapon XI. Born on June 17, 1976, this English Actor has appeared on TV in Dangerfield, A Touch of Frost, and The Sheperd: Border Patrol. He is best known as Bradley Hume in Holby City. The actor also has black belts in Wushu, Tae Kwon Do, Kickboxing, Krav Maga, Judo, and Jujutsu.
