The stigma against the left-handed people is thought to have started in ancient times when the sun-worshippers lived in the Northern Hemisphere, facing south. When you face the sun in this way, the sun looks to move from left to right. So when the sun moved in that way, everything on the right side was 'good', and everything on the left was 'bad'.
There are about 25 references in Bible about the left hand, and they're not good. Does that make you a bad person? I don't think so. A person's behavior is not based on which hand they write with.
In France, there's a study that offers a possible reasoning as to why there are left-handed people. In pre-historic times, left-handiness was not a 'problem', it became one through the centuries and time. However, the study does say that in pre-historic time, lefties had the advantage of surprise on their attackers versus right-handed people. The study goes on to suggest that left-handed people tend to be more skilled with both hands and be more likely to be ambidextrous as well. (able to write well with both hands, with the left being the dominant.)
Good News about Lefty's
If you're left-handed, you might have a better chance of having a higher I.Q. than right-handed people. As well as being among the most creative, the with lefties, their right side of the brain is in charge, which means the creative side...music, arts, perception, and abstract thinking etc.
Also, lefties tend to live a little longer too, the study says, anywhere from a few months to a few years longer. In this day in age, most people do not snub or scorn lefties as they did in medieval times. You can now take pride in being a left-handed person. As we are part of an elite group worldwide. There are about 10 to 20% of us who are lefties, that is about 630 million to 750 million folks worldwide who are lefties!
Also, lefties are more able to read, write or both: backwards and up-side down. I personally can read upside-down with no effort at all, but reading backwards is not that hard for me, it just takes a little more concentration to do! In my earlier years of trying to get my signature cursive writing style, I had people ask me how you do that, write almost up-side down. At the time, I never thought I was writing up-side down! It look right side up when I was done writing. I don't write so much up-side down anymore.
But if you're a 'lefty' and proud of it, let the world know, in this day in age, no reason to hide what hand you write with. Besides with computers and everything, it takes both hands for those anyways.
