Veterinary Pet Insurance (VPI), is the oldest, the largest and the most well known provider of pet health insurance, in the United States. VIP does not cover hip and elbow dysplasia, slipping knee cap, OCD, liver shunt, Wobbler's disease, Von Willebrad's disease (bleeding disorder), eyelash/eyelid problems that cause the eyelash to irritate the eyes. The advantage Plus Plan's premiums start at $15.92 a month, while its Gold Plan starts at $9.08 a month.

Pet Care, owned by Pet Health Inc., has only been available in the United States since May of 2001, with coverage available in 43 states. Pet Care does not cover annual checkup, shots, heart-worm pill or other routine visits. However Pet Care does provide coverage for congenital and hereditary problems (as long as the policy was taken out before problems occurred), as well as life threatening illnesses and accidents. The monthly premium for dog insurance ranges from $9.95 to 29.95 a month and $8.50 to $19.95 a month for cats.

Pet Assure covers all pets, of all ages and any health conditions. Owners will have to use a participating vet. There will be no deductibles, benefit caps, or limits. Also your pet is automatically approved, so there is no waiting period. It cost $99 dollars for one pet, or there is a family plan for $149 dollars, and that covers up to four animals.

Pets Health offers plans that cover almost anything. From a small accident to under certain conditions and long term care for chronic illness. Plans range from $108 dollars a year for the Accident-Only plan to a whopping $921 dollars a years for the best plan.
