Faerie Sequence

SAP

Preparation

Dazzling light

Flashed and blinded,

entrancing innocent passerby.

Lures of sweet fragrance

Baited her prisoners.

The time of harvest

arrived.

Queen Faerie began her

preparations.

Display

Fireflies illuminated

the Scene.

Bees stood with

Stingers ready.

Upon flowers seated,

The Realm of the Faerie

encircled the patch.

Enchanted folk

Cowered from the eyes.

Acceptance dimmed

faces and sagged

shoulders.

A lark signaled, the

Time had come.

Ritual

Dressed in a finery

of golden silks and

silvery flames,

Jewels flashed from

the

Queen's fingers as the

Ritual

Began.

A slow procession of

Doomed bodies

paced by the Bell Toll.

Eager souls peered into

the circle.

Silver glints flashed

by the Lightning Bugs glow,

as the

ranks

filed

singularly,

orderly,

militantly.

Small knives,

held in the prisoners' grasps,

produced

Highlights,

brightening the

voids of their faces.

Distantly a

Drum

Beat

A

Steady

Beat.

As the Queen called forth the

Magical words,

One

by

One

the condemned stepped

Forward.

On beat,

On time,

Each One

cut their

Knives across

Each wrist.

With Crimson

dripping

steadily

down

dulled

blades,

They weakly,

Haltingly,

Sliced

Their throats.

Blood splattered

and

Blood poured,

Saturating the Earth,

Sanctifying the Magic.

Sacrifice.

Blessed

The bodies remained

and formed a byre.

Lovingly,

Flames licked their cheeks

and Kissed their lips.

Smoke consumed their

dressings and colored

their eyes.

Slowly,

Laboriously,

Each citizen filed past,

Flinging flowers upon the

Greedy fire to complete the

Blessing.
