FAIR WEATHER TRAINERS

Kathryn Neff Perry
Just recently my husband decided we would try to "get in shape" together.
"Yeah", he said, "when you work out together it's always easier".
So we started out with a diet. While I was talking to him about several diets I had heard about recently, he disappeared to the kitchen and brought back caramel corn.
Later we tried jogging. That lasted almost 15 minutes-longer than the diet.
Next we tried walking. That lasted several days (until it started raining). We are fair weather trainers.
Our next plan of attack was bicycling, but one of them had a flat tire, so he didn't get them out of the garage. He said, "hey, I've seen you and Amy do that 20-minute workout let's try that." He decided that was just for women and we needed to so something "together". We decided the only thing left was a rowing machine. So we jumped into the car and drove to Sears. When we got home we took it all out of the box, eager to assemble it and start rowing. As we pulled the last piece out of the box, I noticed we didn't have any nuts or bolts.
"I'd better drive back to the store," he replied.
I heard him pull in the driveway.
"After the salesman opened two boxes," he said, "there weren't any nuts and bolts in either of those----then we realized we had everything we needed."
He followed me to the living room where the fully-assembled rowing machine sat.
He shook his head and walked to the kitchen. He came back to the family room eating the rest of the bag of caramel corn.
