Fairtax: How the Government Steals Christmas Each Year

How the Government Skims from the Top of Every One of Your Christmas Presents

Lary Holland
During tough economic times many people are concerned about getting the most for their dollar for their families and Christmas is no exception. Every year people bustle to find the best sales, often times looking for 20% - 70% off their favorite purchases. Those gem of a finds bring smiles of accomplishment to so many, but what if you could practically knock the price of any $100.00 item instantaneously to $80.00 or less just by passing one law across the United States that exposed just how greedy our government has been lately.

The average household is being forced to do more with less, but the various government offices don't seem to follow the same practices as people that have normal everyday civilian jobs. What if we could have our cake and eat it too? With a little education and just a tad bit more dedication, "we the people" could knock about one-fifth the price of every domestic product made here in the United States off the tops. Yes, Americans really do have that much power.

At both the federal and state level of government there are tax-reformers that are crying out to their legislators for relief but government doesn't seem to really want to listen or change their ways. There are various proposals that have been introduced that would force government to change their taxing practices that would help save your family tremendously. Imagine no longer being burdened by filing taxes every year, paying for professionals to help figure out deductions, and ultimately being part of a true job creation plan.

Taking a look at the federal HR 25 - Fair Tax Act 2009 proposal, it seems that more people need to think about how much they want to save around Christmas time. Just what is the Fairtax seems to be a "fair" question for everyone.

According to leading websites describing the proposed federal FairTax plan:

Enables workers to keep their entire paychecks, enables retires to keep their entire pensions, refunds in advance the t ax on purchase of basic necessities, allows American products to compete fairly, brings transparency and accountability to tax policy, ensures social security and Medicare funding, closes all loopholes and brings fairness to taxations, and of course claims to abolish the IRS. 1 Nobody likes the Internal Revenue Service, also known as the IRS, and getting an advanced refund on your everyday necessities isn't really something that you can argue with as a bad thing.

The proposed bill has an intent to "promote freedom, fairness, and economic opportunity by repealing the income tax and other taxes, abolishing the Internal Revenue Service, and enacting a national sales tax to be administered primarily by the States."2 With Corporate and income taxes being removed from the cost of producing goods, along with other ancillary government taxes and levies being removed, a rapid decrease in the retail price would occur and would in itself stimulate private sector jobs and overall economic health. Imagine a jobs bill where government expenditures actually decrease while productivity of the private sector increases.

The FairTax Act (HR 25, S 296) is nonpartisan legislation. It abolishes all federal personal and corporate income taxes, gift, estate, capital gains, alternative minimum, Social Security, Medicare, and self-employment taxes and replaces them with one simple, visible, federal retail sales tax administered primarily by existing state sales tax authorities. 3

If being able to buy more presents in the coming years, no longer having to struggle to save tons of paperwork for deductions, and a dissolution of the Internal Revenue Service isn't motivation enough to start the phone calls rolling into your federal legislators offices, you just might work for Uncle Sam, but for the rest of us... it's definitely time to take "we the people" a bit more seriously and stop the government from stealing Christmas next year.

  • H.R. 25: The Fair Tax Act 2009 would enable workers to keep their entire paychecks if passed.
  • The current Fair Tax Act proposal of 2009 would abolish the Internal Revenue Service.
  • A Fairtax implementation at the federal level would be the equivalent of a true jobs bill.
The FairTax only applies on what we choose to spend for new goods or services, not on what we earn.

That is pretty interesting Ralph. I am familiar with infowars.com and I think that when the citizenry is well-informed, that they will reject International taxation. The FAIR tax is widely supported by Campaign for Liberty participants and I think that when you read the FAIR TAX in its' entirety you will see that the repeals are properly placed in there to prevent "additional taxation." Again, this boils down to a well-educated society participating fully in the constitutional form of government.

The FAIR TAX seems like it will be good, but you have to remember the old saying that if it looks too good to be true, then it is. The FAIR TAX is part of the U.N. agenda that will become an additional tax on top of the taxes we already have. It will be another means to track us. Go to infowars.com and listen to the information, or find out more from the CAMPAIGN FOR LIBERTY people.
