Fairuza Balk's keen eye for a great script and willingness to take risks with her art also means that her career just may be the most diverse one in Hollywood. She has been a film star working regularly since she was in elementary school, and she has chosen parts that differ so much that you may not recognize her from one film to another, due to her power to completely transform herself for a part. You may not recognize that the innocent schoolgirl from "Gas Food Lodging" was portrayed by the same actress that played tough witch Nancy in "The Craft." The heart and soul that she puts into the fictional characters always shines through, even in the most challenging roles.
Balk has now put equal heart into the art of music. She has released her first single, "Stormwinds." It's lyrics are haunting and poetic, while the creative musical accompaniment is equally strong. "Stormwinds" is available on mp3 at iTunes and Amazon. It's also available in a special edition on Fairuza.com, her official website. Fairuza wrote "Stormwinds" herself, with Stephen Gilmour producing. It was produced, engineered, and Mixed by John Flannery. More music is soon to come as well.
Fairuza Balk has upcoming films and is also an artist. Her work has been shown in several galleries, and her recent paintings in rust are currently showcased on her website. Balk most recently was seen in "Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans" with Nicolas Cage.
