Faith and Grace: My Mormon Experience

Seth Waite
I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon) since I was 8 years old. My family had all been members and at the age of 8 I felt prepared to become a member of the church as well.

At my baptism I made covenants (sacred promises with God) to: have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, use the Lord's sacrifice on the cross to repent (change and forgive) of my sins, to mourn with those that mourn, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort. After my baptism I received the Holy Ghost. This experience was my own Day of Pentecost, as I felt the warmth of the spirit and the Lord's love for me.

After these experiences I continued to learn, study and understand the beauty of the Mormon faith and my personal relationship and responsibility to Jesus Christ. The Savior, Jesus Christ, has been the most comforting and important knowledge that I understand. I find strength in my challenges, hope in the world, and love for others. I know that Jesus Christ lived, that He died on the cross and suffered for my sins, that He rose the 3rd day and was resurrected, and that He is my personal Savior and Redeemer. I try to love as He loves and reach out to my friends, neighbors, and enemies.
