Faith Hill Confronts Fan

A female fan who couldn't help but grab Tim Mcgraw's crotch during a recent concert later received a tongue-lashing from his wife Faith Hill. Faith said the woman needed to learn some class, and that her behavior was "very disrespectful". After the fact fellow concert-goers expressed dismay that the incident had taken place in their town of Lafayette, Louisiana.

Such behavior isn't something one would associate with country music, which extols the virtues of God, family, and a general facade of good ol' knowing wrong from right. There are a few yokels who will threaten to put "a boot in your ass", but many of the songs take pride in living in the country where "people still know wrong from right". Faith Hill herself sings a song taking pride in being a "Mississippi Girl" who is still down to earth despite her fame. And fame or no fame, nobody wants someone grabbing their husband's crotch.

Perhaps the woman was confused from having watched Rock of Love. This is a reality show featuring Poison vocalist Bret Michaels groping his way through a group of women living in a house, each vying to become the one selected to "rock his world". Groupies are a staple in the rock music world, and I'm sure they're present in country music as well, but they're probably not as brazen as rock groupies. One perk afforded to Faith Hill is that she doesn't expect to see people trying to grab McGraw's crotch, and he certainly isn't writing songs about it.

Faith Hill and Tim McGraw are notorious for having a solid marriage despite both of them being in the entertainment industry. During an appearance on Oprah they sang a duet, "Let's Make Love", that nearly melted my television. They definitely have chemistry, and it's referenced in about every interview of theirs. Even with so many celebrity couples divorcing, it would truly be a shock if anything happened with them. In country music, where family values are valued, being in a high-profile successful marriage is an asset. Performing together? Even better.

Faith Hill is justified in being offended. No word on Tim McGraw's reaction to it. As a performer, I'm sure he appreciates having his personal space not violated. It also shows that in some ways women can be more aggressive than men in pursuing someone that's spoken for. Whether the men are annoyed by it or secretly flattered is a whole other story.
