Fake Smile

Rachel Sweets
With bright eyes and a fake smile she greets the world around her
Band tees, tight pants, sweatshirts and eyeliner is her everyday attire
She acts like nothing is bothering her, like nothing is wrong
but deep inside shes screaming for help

What everyone sees is not her real self
She hides behind a well-placed mask every day
On the outside shes happy and always smiling
On the inside shes crying out, hoping someone will notice her

Shes tired of having a fake a smile everyday
Shes tired of making so many mistakes
She feels useless and horrible
and the demons of her past have come back to haunt her

There is only one person that she can't hide her true self from
He knows everything about her, everything that she does
what shes thinking, how she feels deep inside
but after all that she has done, He still loves her

She wonders how someone could love her so much

He tells her that one day she won't have to fake the smile
That one day, her past mistakes won't leave her feeling useless and horrible
One day, those demons that haunt her every move, will disappear
and one day she will truly be happy with her life

She wonders if she should believe Him though
should she even care anymore what happens with her life?
Should she try to fight off the depression thats eating away at her soul?
or should she give up?

She needs to deal with the pain she feels inside
She needs to learn how to truly smile
He is helping her grow every day
He is helping her see that she is worth something

Beautifully written. There are many she's that fit this description of wearing a fake smile and hiding from their true self. Welcome to AC.

Believe Him. He'll give you strength if you ask for it. Great work! (most of us wear masks all the time; sad commentary on society, isn't it?)
