Fall 2008 RTW Fashion

Chanel 2008 Fall RTW Collection

Chanel has always been a fashion icon for a reason. For its fall 2008 RTW line launched in London, Karl Lagerfeld reminded us why. He took us back to a time of classic Chanel. A time of beehives and Daphne Guiness eyes. A time of classic beauty.

Black, whites, and grays dominated the collection with splashes of purples, reds, and of course, some pinks. Tweed was also a focal point and Lagerfeld definitely did not skimp on the detail. Chiffon and feathers accentuated many pieces and added a fabulous amount of femininity. Most pieces were topped off with flat, pointy loafers that were bejeweled on the toe.

There was also a great selection of balloon skirts and pants, mainly in blacks. Layered cashmere was a great top to these bottoms. A few mini dresses also saw light in this collection, and some that ended above the knee. Most were paired with tights and flats.

Coats were a main feature. They varied in length from hip to ankle. The gilded shearling leather was the most unique. Most were trimmed in chiffon and feather. My favorite coat of this collection was the houndstooth. Black and white in color with a wide overlapping lapel, it was gorgeous! The chiffon and feather followed the button hem all the way down, lightly dusting the ground. If there is one piece from this collection you must have, this is it!

As for accessories, you know that Chanel never lacks. There were an abundance of classic long chains. Bracelets, rings, and brooches also made their appearances. Vintage was the feeling I got when looking at the accessories. Big costume jewels that bring about a sense of nostalgia and glamour.

When planning my fall 2008 wardrobe, I will definitely keep Chanel at the top of my list. You can never go wrong with Chanel!
