Grey's Anatomy, starring Ellen Pompeo who plays Meredith Grey, is a medical drama that began with a series of interns that began their medical journey at Seattle Grace Hospital. During their internship program, the interns build close bonds together, including Izzie Stevens played by Katherine Heigl and Derek Shepherd played by Patrick Dempsey. Once they they become residents at the Seattle Hospital, they began a long career together. Through difficult surgeries and numerous romantic involvements the group stays close. Meredith Grey becomes romantically involved with character Derek Shepherd and become engaged in the last season. While Izzie battles cancer, and viewers are left not knowing whether she will survive in the season finale.

Grey's Anatomy will air on Thursday, September 24th, at 9pm on ABC, and will be stacked up against many drama series this coming fall 2009 season. This would include these medical dramas, which air on seperate television networks.

House

A story about a doctor named House, who goes above and beyond to find out what is wrong with a patience and also to alienate people.

Mercy

A new medical drama about three nurses coming home from Iraq and working in the Mercy Medical Hospital.

Private Practice

A spin off of Grey's Anatomy, where Addison Montgomery leaves the Seattle Grace Hospital to join a private medical practice. Also airing on ABC at right after Grey's Anatomy on Thursday nights at 10pm.

Since the show first started in March 2005, it became one of TV's most liked medical drama series. Since there are not as many medical drama series out this coming fall like the mystery/detective television series , Grey's Anatomy should fair well in this category. Since the season finale left so many fans in awe over what will happen to Izzie and Dr George O'Malley, Grey Anatomy fans will be sitting on their couches waiting for the season premiere.

Through many gossip websites and even on Wikipedia, it has been said that Izzie will survive in the new fall season, but for how long, who knows. Dr George O'Malley is said to have ended his career with the show, and he will not be returning. But that is why it is called gossip, you'll never know until it airs.
