Fall 2009 TV Preview: The Mentalist

The TV show The Mentalist is scheduled for the fall CBS lineup for 2009. It should do well compared to the other network's competition. The Mentalist did really well in the ratings last year, and it looks like it should do well again for this fall season. It is being aired in a really good time slot. It will be on Thursday nights at 10 p.m. ET following CSI on CBS. The first episode of The Mentalist for the 2009 fall season will be aired on September 24th.

Simon Barker plays as Patrick Jane in The Mentalist. Patrick Jane is the main character on the show. He is usually referred to as Jane in the show. He works with the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The others that star on the show are his co-workers at CBI, and they are played by Robin Tunney, Owain Yeoman, Amanda Righetti, and Tim Kang. Jane is an independent consultant that usually solves the crimes by using his mentalist skills. He is constantly on the hunt for the serial killer "Red John".

Red John killed Jane's wife and daughter 5 years earlier before Jane decided to be a consultant for California Bureau of Investigation. Jane had been famous for being psychic medium and during a TV interview he openly mocked Red John. That is why Red John decided to target Jane's family and kill them. His trademark is a "smiley face" that is painted with the victim's blood. Last season of The Mentalist had Jane almost catching Red John.

I am sure that this season will show Patrick Jane still on the hunt for Red John. Jane will do anything to catch him, which in one way is his one real flaw. He is not afraid to cross lines to catch Red John. Plus, there will be more entertaining crimes to solve. Jane has unique skills of observation that lead him to usually solving the crime before him. He has a sincere nature about him that usually lets people involved in the case open up to him. However, if that does not work, he does use is mentalist skills on them to get more information needed in order to solve the crime. That is why the TV show is called The Mentalist.

Jane also has a very playful side to him. It is what makes the TV viewer interested in the series. It is fun to see Jane manipulate people in certain situations. It makes The Mentalist very entertaining. I am sure that this second season will do really well because of Jane's endearing qualities and the bond shown between himself and his coworkers. It is great that is on the fall CBS lineup.

This was a good review:-) I watched a few episodes and like the show, it was just hard to catch it all the time...I didn't even realize there was another subplot going on with his family having been killed!
