Fall 2009 TV Preview: NCIS

The seventh season of NCIS (Navy Criminal Investigative Services) will begin on Tuesday, September 22 at 8 pm on CBS. Faithful fans anxiously await those famous words "grab your gear. We've got a body" that Special Agent Gibbs yells as he heads to the elevator. Those words mark the beginning of the team's next Navy or Marine Corps murder investigation.

Mark Harmon, aka Leroy Jethro Gibbs leads his team of special agents, which consists of Michael Weatherly, aka Anthony DiNozzo, Senior Field Officer. DiNozzo was formerly on the Baltimore Police Force before joining the team. Sean Murray, aka Timothy McGee, NCIS Special Agent. His specialty is computers. He graduated from MIT with a Masters in Computer Forensics and received his BS in Bioengineering from John Hopkins. Cote de Pablo, aka Ziva David, a Mossad Liaison Officer/NCIS Field Agent. Ziva joined the team in Season 3 after Sasha Alexander, aka Caitlin Todd was killed by Ziva's half brother, Ari Haswari. Also, important to Gibbs' team though not field agents are Pauley Perrette, aka Abby Scuito, Forensic Specialist and David McCallum, aka Dr Donald "Ducky" Mallard, Medical Examiner. We, also, have Rocky Carroll, aka Director Leon Vance heading the entire NCIS unit. Carroll replaced Lauren Holly, aka Director Jenny shepard when Shepard was killed in season 5.

NCIS is an action packed high-stressed drama that is lightened by the comradeship and good humor teasing that goes on among the team. Each member comes to the team with their own set of valuable skills and though there may be teasing about those skills among the team; they are still highly respected for what they can do. They work together like a fine tuned instrument. DiNozzo, McGee and Ziva know what Gibbs expects from them before he even finishes his sentence. This group of investigators does not require a lot of high tech gadgets to get their man. Even if they had them Gibbs wouldn't know how to use them. He can barely use a cell phone. Gibbs depends on his "gut" feelings and they are usually right on the money.

As reported by www.nydailynews.com NCIS isn't one of those shows that generates a lot of buzz, but it does have a solid, steady audience. I believe, that same audience will continue to follow NCIS through its 7th season. I'm sure, that NCIS fans are all sitting on pins and needles waiting to see if and when Ziva will return. They may also be wondering if Ziva will be the next female NCIS agent to bite the dust since female agents seem to be short lived on this show.

As all the regular NCIS viewers know, in the season 6 finale there are hard feelings between Ziva and Tony. Tony shot and killed a Mossad officer that Ziva was involved with. She tells Gibbs that she doesn't know if she can continue to work with Tony. Gibbs makes the decision easy for her by telling Ziva that he can no longer trust her since she has lied to him about her involvement with the Mossad officer. When Tony, Gibbs and the Director leave Israel, Ziva stays behind.

NCIS may also pick up some new viewers this season when audiences tune in to check out the new NCIS: Los Angeles which immediately follows NCIS on Tuesday nights. As to whether any of the old NCIS team will appear on NCIS: LA, nothing is being said, definitely, but Rocky Carroll did state in his TV Guide celebrity blog that he had a "feeling that Director Vance will occasionally appear on the spin-off just to keep an eye on things."

As NCIS goes into its 7th season nothing describes the show's fans better than the Marine Corps Motto: "Semper Fi" (always faithful).
