Fall 2010 Designer Coats

2010 Fall fashion wear has arrived and the current style for coats and jackets must be worn. Trending with the latest fifties-look, the new coats are similar to the fifties and the eighties styles.

The styles. Double-breasted meets capelet to form a strong, flowing, A-line look this fall. Sleeveless, cape design is the biggest style trend, with the knee-length winter coat look following closely behind. Knee and calf length simplified trench coats are next in line for this year's fall trends. The military and safari looks are back with khaki green and brown jackets being paired with matching pants. Secondary trends include highly sculpted collars and color change effects from top to bottom.

The colors. This fall's lineup is strong with solid black. Last year's combinations of black materials are out and basic simplified monochrome has arrived. In outerwear, solid animal print is in style, especially pairing leopard print dresses with leopard print coats and shoes, and so on. A solid gray or gray houndstooth is desirable if accessorized by shiny black leather gloves, boots and purses. A secondary pattern is large black and white plaid. Navy, khaki green and golden military colors are prevalent in the military styles.

The fit. This falls coats have fitted shoulders and sleeves, but are loose A-line or fitted trench style in the torso. Capelets are back in style, with an eighties war-era belted look as a close second. Wide collars and bold, solid outlines are in, with the delicate and flimsy material being thoroughly out. The military styles are back, and many jackets are kept hip length so as to be worn with matching military style pants. Brass buttons, epaulettes and cargo pockets are some of the common details found in this fall's coat line. Also, seemingly in remembrance of Michael Jackson, the velvet fitted dinner jacket with stiff white lace at collar is a sub-trend.

The 2010 fall coat trend defines remembering old war years and military styles as well as fifties glamour. It is said that fashion always mimics the times, and now that we are in a time of anti-war debates, it is fitting that we should bring controversy to the streets with our apparel.
