Fall 2010 Fashion Trend Preview

Fashion always looks forward, and though we are still deep into summer, fashion trends for fall are slowly creeping into the radar. It's best to be prepared and get an idea as to what to expect, in order to avoid any styles that have no chance of transcending into the next season. (Bright florals, sorry, you're out!) The goal is after all, not to purchase an entire new fall wardrobe, but rather purchase a few key pieces to build on your existing wardrobe.

Contrary to common fall style belief, soft colors of pale pink and light camels remain in the color palette for the winter season. Clearly these colors should be mixed with some strong black accent pieces. In other words, you'll still make good use of those ruffled feminine tops and laced dresses, just expect to pair a rugged black leather jacket on top to balance out the look. Here are few fall key trends to keep a close eye after:

Aviator Jackets: Think of it as a beefed up leather jacket. It has all the components of a rough motorcycle jacket, (leather, buckles zippers and snap buttons) except with the added value of a Sherpa collar.

Distressed Cardigans: Why not? We've seen it coming in every form for summer; denim, leggings and tops. For fall expect slouchy and oversized cardigans with rips, slashes and holes. (Probably not the ideal piece to actually keep you warm.)

Denim tops: Long sleeve button down shirts are most popular in a denim wash. Look for these with three quarter rolled up sleeves. Avoid pairing these with denim pants at all costs. Instead choose a pair of distressed black leggings or even a tulle black mini skirt, for an unpredictable flirty look.

Velvet: Style takes inspiration from a little old English heritage. Current trends like big shoulder dresses and ankle booties roll over to fall with newer renditions fabricated in crushed velvet.
