Betsey Johnson was just one of many who presented her line for fall 2011 with bold styles and hard edged beauty. Johnson's fall runway line is dark but whimsical, with a mishmash of designs and styles. Bold burgundy, red, black and blue alongside plaid, floral and animal prints were a perfect pajama party match to the hairstyles and makeup the models presented.
Bob hairstyles
These are popular but Johnson's models donned bobs that were hard and ultra straight. Johnson used both black short and blond medium-length bobs on the models with heavy, heavy bangs. The retro style bangs were worn at the brow bone and expressed a style of precision. The heavy bangs and stick straight hair was similar to Johnson's very own hairstyle.
Get this look at home:Use a flat iron to smooth out your bob. Add a silicone serum starting at the back of your head to the tips of your hair to keep it straight and sleek. Use a flat iron on your bangs and roll the end tips toward your forehead. Wear clip-on bangs if you normally don't wear bangs. If you plan to use synthetic bangs, do not use heat since it can damage the hair.
Dark Eyes
Dark eyes were used in Johnson's fall runway show , and though it was similar to smokey styles, there was a degree of difference. The darker shades of gray were highlighted by pewter, silver and platinum, which was striking against the pale skin and dark bobs.
Get this look at home:Begin with a highlighting color that covers the entire lid and add a darker shade to cover the lower lid. In the outer crease of your eye, work your way in with a dark shade of gray. After, use the darker shade from your lower lid to blend the colors. The same style can be recreated with any shade and not necessarily dark colors.
Cherry Lips
Cherry red wasn't the exact color lipstick worn on the runway, but there were several red shades used amongst the models. The bright reds created a pop of color against the pale skin, black hair and dark eyes. Some shades were darker and more glossy.
Get this look at home: Reds can be difficult to match to your skin tone, so ask a makeup professional for help. Use a gold highlighting color if the undertone of the lipstick is not what you imagined.
