Fall or Autumn Projects for Kids

Mich Butler
Fall is a great time to do a project with kids. Autumn is coming and it is the time of year that the leaves turn bright happy colors and fall from the trees. These leaves can be collected and used for some very nice fall projects that can add to the décor of your home. And collecting the leaves can be a fun and bonding time with your child.

On any nice day you and your child can take a bag and go out leaf collecting. Go to a place that has some lovely trees that are different types of trees. Maple trees have very pretty colors when fall comes but any tree with pretty leaves will do. Put the prettiest leaves that you find in the bag and take the leaves home.

When you collect leaves for a project you should use the leaves as soon as you can since leaves dry up very fast and once the leaves are dry they are hard to work with.

You can make a collage of leaves on a large sheet of paper. If you don't have a large sheet of paper handy you can use a sheet of newspaper. Take your paper and glue some leaves all over the paper until you can see any of the paper anymore. You can get as creative as you like and make the leaves into any design you want. Then hang it up on display so everyone can see your picture.

Leave can make a wonderful table centerpiece. Just put the leaves in the center of the table in a pleasant form, and then you can put something nice in the center of the leaves like a favorite vase with some flowers in it. You can replace the leaves with fresh leaves as the leaves dry out and loose there color. If your child walks home from school then the child can collect fresh leaves on the way home from school. Just be sure the child stays on there recommended route.

Leaves can be collected and then displayed in wax paper. Take a sheet of wax paper and place some pretty leaves on it. Then take another sheet of wax paper that is the same size as the first sheet of wax paper and place it on top of the leaves. Iron the sheets of wax paper together with a clothes iron on a low setting. Make sure a towel is on the bottom of the bottom wax paper and on the top of the top wax paper. The idea is to get the two sheet of wax paper to stick together so make sure there are some places that the wax paper is touching the other piece of wax paper. Then you can take your wax paper leaves and place them in front of a window and let the sun shine on the leaves. It makes for a beautiful effect.
