Fall Back...Daylight Savings Time Change This Weekend

Gain One Extra Hour of Sleep This Weekend when You Turn Your Clocks Back for Daylight-savings Time

It's time to wander around the house and set your microwave clocks, oven clocks, clock radios in the bedroom, watches and everything else that doesn't roam or automatically reset itself back one hour this weekend due to a daylight-savings time change.

Daylight-savings time ends earlier this year thanks to a law passed last year.

According to an Associated Press report, "it's the last time this will happen in October."

Daylight-savings time will also change later "beginning in 2007," says the Associated Press, warning that daylight-savings time will last "from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November."

Drivers are also being cautioned to be extra careful driving in the dark on Halloween to avoid children.

"The risk of becoming a pedestrian fatality increases four times during Halloween," said Jack Peet, manager of Community Safety Services for AAA Michigan, who added that since Daylight Savings Time ends prior to Halloween (October 31) this year, the earlier darkness can pose extra danger to young Halloween pedestrians, who often dress in black costumes.

The official change occurs at 2 a.m. Sunday, though most folks will make the change before going to bed Saturday night.

Areas that don't observe daylight-savings time? Arizona, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Marianas.

Daylight-saving time will return on March 11 2007.

Thanks for the reminder. My hubby wonders why daylight-savings time has to return at all.
