Fall Clothing for Kids on a Budget

As the warm summetime weather begins to take on a nip in the air for many folks, it becomes time to warm up the kids' wardrobe of clothes. With some strategy and planning, buying fall clothes for kids does not have to completely break your budget.

A good buying clothes for kids on a budget tip is to utilize those mass merchants such as Walmart, Target and the like. The cheaper prices found on kids' clothing at these stores allows for parents to buy more kid clothing in quantity at once than some of the mid-to-higher priced clothing retailers. If regularly laundered with just a bit of care and attention, these inexpensive kid clothes can often last the season-depending, of course, on those kid growth spurts.

Another tip in budget clothes buying for kids is to frequent quality thrift and secondhand shops for good, gently used clothing. These secondhand stores can be a gold mine if you check their stock regularly and often in order to catch those better items as soon as they hit the shelves. This frequent checking the thrift stores can be time consuming but when you come upon some great finds in good kid clothing, your time is well compensated and the pay off is big-greatly assisting the budget.

On a budget, shopping for kids' clothing at mid-to-higher priced clothing retailers is not off-limits at all. A few good sales can go a long, long way towards outfitting your child in quality, lasting clothing for this fall season. Watch the sale ads in newspapers, check the store websites online for those sales where you can buy those normally more expensive and often a bit more durable kid clothes at nearly Walmart-style prices. While newspaper sales can often be great, be sure to do the online check as many retailers these days will have special online sales that make the cost of shipping even worth it.

Wisely choosing basic, and easily coordinated pieces for the kid's fall wardrobe can help keep the expense down. Buy basic shirts, pants, skirts that will mix and match well, therefore stretching the number of outfits available in your children's fall clothing. There will be those fun character shirts or socks, and such indulgences-and there should be-but keeping the majority of kid clothing basic and versatile not only extends the clothing budget dollar, but aids tremendously the ease of dressing for school and other activities each day. Choose many solid colors or basic stripes that are bright and fun as well as mix and match easily.

If your children's clothing is in good condition at the end of the season, return to those thrift shops you utilized well and try to recoup some of your clothing budget for the next season, when the buying of kid clothing begins anew.
